-fire agreement coming up in a few moments. first, new out of the south bay. a deadly hit-and-run in east san jose has police at this hour searching for answers. according to police, a man was hit by two vehicles after 6:00 a.m. while crossing alum rock avenue. we have bob redell on the scene this morning. he has more details on what is happening out there. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jon. we spoken with a local neighborhood group who does not think this was a fluke. thinks this latest fatality here at alum rock avenue is a symptom of the problems on the road. they are not surprised a person has been hit and killed. this is the third pedestrian to be hit and killed in east san jose. the ninth person when you take into account the entire city of east san jose. the man, that is all we know, was jay walking after 6:00 this morning while it was still dark out and most likely raining. he was attempting to cross alum rock and was 75 feet away from the nearest crosswalk when the car ran into him. the car did speed off and did not stop or return. the police are looking for the driver. it

in san jose. it happened just after 6:00 a.m. on alum rock avenue near the intersection with jackson avenue. police say the man was about 30 feet outside of the crosswalk when the car hit him and then drove off. the victim died at the scene. >> all we have on that vehicle is it is a dark-colored sedan, unknown make or model. again, we're still talking to witnesses right now. >> police say a second vehicle also hit the victim. that driver did stop and cooperated with police. the accident tied up traffic in the area and the valley transportation authority had to reroute some buses. >>> this day before thanksgiving is very busy. christien kafton is live at sfo. is it smooth sailing now? >> reporter: that's what we're hearing. we're at the virgin america ticket area. things are moving along quite nicely. flights in and out of sfo are packed full and are flying, by and large, on time. >> passenger loads are up about 3% year over year since last year. but everything is operating smoothly. >> reporter: there were problems late into last night lasting into this morning. rainy weather led to

, a young san jose teen appeared in adult court today, charged with some very disturbing crimes. adonis muldrow is accused of a crime spree that included murder, armed robbery and a shoot-out with police. nbc bay area's damian trujillo was in the packed courtroom today. he joins us live outside the san jose courthouse with a closer look at the juvenile now officially charged as an adult. damian? >> reporter: well, janelle, the deputies walked muldrow over here to the courthouse from juvenile hall. and even at the young age of 15 years ode, muldrow may never see freedom again. he wore the green jumpsuit of juvenile hall adonis muldrow became the exception today. >> he is charged with the commission of a murder in the course of a carjacking, as well as attempted murder of a police officer. so anybody who is willing to do either of those things poses a significant threat to the community. and it was important to get him off the streets as quickly as possible. >> reporter: the prosecutor says muldrow conspired with this man, 25-year-old jonathan wilbanks to go on a crime spree on november 1
san jose to explain what happened in the shooting of a marine in san jose in palm springs. >> reporter: well, this marine attended piedmont high school here in san jose his sophomore and junior here and then transferred out. are calling this a tragedy. here is picture of him. 22 years old. he was stationed out of 29 palms. police in palm springs say two bicycle officers heard yelling in a parking garage and when they entered, they recognized him and his marine friend from a public intoxication from earlier that night and the men started to yell derogatory comments. one of the officers reached in the car. >> the suspect accelerated directly toward the other officer. >> reporter: the officers both fired their weapons and shot him which resulted in his death. the passenger was uninjured. the marine's family told me on the phone he's a good man who served in afghanistan. they say what police is describing is completely out of character. there's an american flag and patriotic stickers. neighbors say the family was also -- the family was always proud of him. >> you think you ar
.com/weather. >>> a fire ripped through a south bay camper today. cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington is in san jose with the good man is who saved the women inside. >> reporter: frightening moments for the two women inside this camper when it caught on fire. but thanks to that good samaritan, they made tout alive. here's some video taken by a cbs 5 viewer who saw this happen. this camper is parked on santiago avenue near tully road. now here's some video of the good samaritan. he is an employee with the evergreen school district who didn't want to be interviewed. he was driving through the area making rounds because there is a school across the street and he saw flames and heard screaming. that man got out of his car, broke the windows to the camper and forced open the door. he also tried to extinguish the flames himself using a garden hose. two women inside got out safely although one did suffer burns to her hands. the other smoke inhalation. they had been lighting candles to stay warm when they fell asleep. >> it's just one of those things during the holidays and around cold time that we burn can

, one of the suspects in a violent strings of crime in san jose will go in front of the judge for the first time. jonathan wilbanks is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery. now, he and another man are accused of four robberies, a deadly attempted carjacking and a shooting that injured a police officer friday night. now, the two of them were caught on surveillance video at a 7/11 store where a man was shot and killed by the suspect. a $20,000 reward is being offered for information for the man who is still out there on the loose. >>> people in palo alto are being warned about two different scams involving energy and water services. the first one involves someone claiming to be from a gas company they claim a product they are selling lowers your bill. the city says the scammers often mention pg&e. that's not palo alto's utility company. the other scam involves a fake water leak insurance company and that will offer insurance against high water bills, they claim. >>> sal, this is your day. i mean, it's gonna be a busy day. >> i was trying to look at the chp list

south now through san jose so you're seeing a lot of showers in the area, pockets of some moderate amounts of rainfall and a lot of strong gusty winds to go along with that. embedded in the system are cells that are producing moderate amounts of rainfall even some heavy rainfall as you move through. some reports now already over 6, 7" of rainfall in some parts of the north bay and still more to come. you can see this band that's making its way through the bay area now and some heavier cells as we take you in for a closer look. toward mill valley heavy rainfall in the area along 101 if you are traveling along here expect heavy rainfall and the possibility of some flooding now. a lot of that water is ending up in some of the basins now so we're likely to see some flooding in the creeks and streams. flash flood watches are up for the bay area and high wind advisories. we are not done. we'll see the storm system working through the bay area so, yes, the commute is going to be very dangerous, very treacherous. watch out for debris in the roads. of course, some ponding water, as well. we
